SDS Media also specialise in designing Web sites for corporate accounts, including retail outlets, en masse. For example, we can assemble a collection of sites for a number of different pubs, shops, or other such establishments in a chain. Each site shares a corporate identity with the group, but within this framework, we create a unique site for each individual pub, shop or establishment.

We have already developed online services for major UK companies and institutions, including Punch Taverns (building and maintaining a secure online database for retrieving archived property documents), Next, Anchor Trust, WorldWide Volunteering (an online database for helping folk to find volunteer placements all around the world), and the Royal Scottish Forestry Society (developing their site alongside a huge searchable archive of journals and articles).

Web site design

Our speciality is designing Web sites for retail outlets en masse (for example, for a number of different pubs or shops in the same chain), although we are also happy to build one-off sites for businesses, societies, educational institutions and other such groups. Your site can be based upon one of our existing templates, or we can put together a design for you from scratch, based upon your existing corporate identity, and any artwork that you may already have.

Online Databases

If you have hundreds or thousands of documents archived in digital format, SDS Media can design and implement an online database to enable your clients or staff to access them over the Web (we can also build in user name and password log-in pages to limit access to registered users only). Our databases can be completely customized to suit your requirements, including creating search filters, pull-down menu options, categories, and various other check boxes to make finding files even faster.

We can also create more simplified and JavaScript-driven databases that you update for yourself. These are ideal if you just want to create a simple search and retrieve feature for your site, or for designing a catalogue for an online shop. This option requires no server side scripting, so it's perfect if your Web space doesn't support ASP or PHP scripts.

e-Commerce and shopping carts

If you need to offer customers a way of ordering products and services from your Web site, we have a number of solutions that you may find useful. SDS Media can set-up a bespoke JavaScript-based shopping cart that can be seamlessly integrated into any existing Web site. We can also develop scripts on demand for integrating a shopping cart into any payment gateway, including PayPal. Our experts can also develop sites using e-Commerce software such as ShopFactory or Actinic Catalog.

Scanning Services

Utilising the resources and know-how of the other companies within the SDS Asbuilt group, SDS Media is also able to offer scanning services for any of our clients, so that any paper document can be included in the finished Web site. We have the capability to scan all types of document from business card size to larger than A0 (we can actually scan a single document 2 metres wide by 20 metres long).

It does not have to be standard paper; we can scan microfiche, film, fine art canvas, transparency, and even blue prints. During some of our property archive contracts we have scanned ancient documents, some dating back to the 16th century, still with wax seals attached.

Our company has various colour and large format paper scanners and digitisers which enable us to electronically convert any paper archive, regardless of age, individual size, condition and binding obstacles into seamless and cohesive databases. This is done without altering the original documents or causing additional wear and tear (essential for rare and priceless archives).

We have the ability to colour scan any paper (in millions of colours) up to and over the actual physical size of A0. All forms of Microfiche to PC Digitisation and conversions including Aperture Cards, Combination Fiche, 16mm and 35mm roll film can also be scanned.

Web Hosting

We have two dedicated servers (running Windows and ASP) that we use to host our clients' sites, plus a further Linux server (set-up to run PHP scripts). You can choose to host the site that we design for you on our servers, or we can either publish the files to your own server, or supply the files on CD-ROM for your own administrator to upload and manage. If we host the site for you, we can set-up a domain name and e-mail forwarding as part of the package. We also regularly back-up our servers so you can be assured that your site is safe.
